06:58, Ares 1-X weather forcast is no go…

At this moment, the NASA weather officer at Ares Launch Control forcasts weather to be “red” which would prohibit the launch of Ares 1X when the window opens at 08:00. Another weather balloon was launched at exactly 07:00 to take weather readings from the ground up to 60,000 ft.

The primary concern all morning has been the formation of high level clouds that would cause a static build up as the spacecraft flew through them. This static would interfere with the instrumentation and communication both on board the rocket and on the link to ground control.
